As many of you have heard, the Kincaid Fire has been in the national news for most of the week as it threatened much of Sonoma County. I’m very pleased to share that as of 11/3/19, the fires are now almost 100% contained and close to be extinguished completely. I’m even more pleased to share that Farmhouse was untouched and we were able to reopen our doors this last Friday welcoming guests back to our beautiful Russian River Valley. In fact, Healdsburg, Forestville, Dry Creek Valley, Sebastopol, Sonoma, Kenwood, Glen Ellen, Santa Rosa, Cloverdale – pretty much all of the communities in Sonoma County – were unaffected by these fires!
And for this, we can thank the real SUPERHEROS, the firefighters, that worked tirelessly (and smartly) to save our communities!
Thanks to their hard work, the vast majority of the burn area was contained to the rugged uninhabited wooded hills between Sonoma and Lake County and the Eastern edges of the Alexander Valley and Knights Valley. The largest percentage of acreage that was burnt was wilderness. Our cities, our towns, our parks, and our communities were saved!!!
We learned in 2017 how challenging it was to combat the misinformation reported by the media. We also learned how truly resilient (and wonderful!) this community is. The tourism dependent businesses of Sonoma County will be back open in no time (if not open already) and eager to welcome visitors. And not to downplay the devastation, we did lose 2 wineries and many homes, but the 423 wineries that were unaffected are eager to get back to business. So, please, don’t be a stranger! Now more than ever, we encourage you to please visit and support our wineries, cafes, restaurants, and small businesses. We can’t wait to welcome you back to beautiful Sonoma Wine Country.
